Hospitals worldwide are facing an unprecedented crisis due to the increasingly rapid emergence and dissemination of drug-resistant bugs. Hospital associated Infections (HAIs) occur worldwide and affect both developed and resource-poor countries. Infections acquired in health care settings are among the major causes of morbidity and mortality among hospitalized patients.

The role of Clinical Microbiology in patient treatment & in prevention of hospital-acquired infections has become even more conspicuous as it become clear that there is a lack of communication between the Microbiology laboratory and physicians. It warrants exploring and consolidating the possibility of a triumvirate between the lab microbiologist, clinician & hospital  administration.

Continuous update of skills and knowledge is important in the rapidly expanding area of infection prevention and control in order to promote sound decision making and policy formulation. In an effort to provide hospitals with a frame work for tracking their HAI & antimicrobial resistance problems & to provide healthcare leaders with a strategic action plan to tackle HAIs as well as antimicrobial resistance, The Department of Microbiology & SGPGIMS Hospital Infection Control Committee are going to organize a “National CME cum Workshop on Hospital Infection Prevention & Control practices and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program” during 12th to 15th December, 2017  in Telemedicine Auditorium of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow.

Why Should you Attend

The National CME cum Workshop on Hospital Infection Prevention & Control practices and Antimicrobial Stewardship program promises to confer an opportunity to asses the metamorphic changes in this field in the past decade and will help evaluate the frontiers.
The purpose of this workshop is not to develop another guideline, but to identify specific high-priority strategies and actions that, if implemented successfully by hospitals, would be likely to have a significant impact on reducing HAI & antimicrobial resistance.
The program intends to provide the basis for evidence based intervention by Hospital Infection Prevention & Control Team ( Healthcare audit being an extended arm to embellish the same).

Who Should Attend
